‘Damsel’ Leads Movies With The Highest Completion Rate So Far in Netflix on 2024

Netflix’s 2024 lineup boasts several blockbuster hits. While data from Netflix and third-party firms like Nielsen and Luminate reveal the total viewing hours, the exact number of viewers completing these films remains elusive. However, fresh insights from London-based SVOD analytics firm Digital i now shed light on viewer retention trends in 2024.

We examined the shows having the highest completion rates in the year 2024 in yesterday’s report if you missed it. Some of the shows scrutinized included “3 Body Problem,” “Berlin,” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” It appeared as quite a surprise as it ended up that Harlan Coben’s New Year’s Day thriller titled “Fool Me Once” was the most.

Digital i was pioneering in the determination of movie viewership through the use of a VTR metric. To some extent, the idea of using such criteria to rate movies is rather modern.”

To refresh your mind, these are the finishing rates:

  • El Conde – 44%
  • American Symphony – 53%
  • The After – 66%
  • The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar – 72%
  • Nimona – 67%
  • Maestro – 49%
  • Nyad – 69%
  • Rustin – 57%

According to Digital i’s recent findings, a movie completion rate refers directly to when the viewership ends till credits finish rolling. This brings on additional interest given the fact that Netflix incorporates such elements as voice-over credits in their own method for tallying views.

These completion rates cover countries that spread across a wide range, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Poland, the Netherlands, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Japan, South Korea, and Australia.

Completion rate is determined within the first 30 days after launch.

We’ve made a ranking out of high to low completion rates for the selected major movies this year – so how many actual people have actually watched the tail ends of these films?

  • Damsel – 78%
  • The Abyss – 69%
  • Irish Wish – 63%
  • Lover, Stalker, Killer – 72%
  • Code 8: Part II – 70%
  • Mea Culpa – 63%
  • Orion and the Dark – 53%
  • Leave the World Behind –  74%

Although high-budget Netflix movies are often criticized they still have an audience who watch them till the end. You put in a popular actress like “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown and you get an interesting movie which was fun for many—this is clear because we understand from the statement above that at least some people were not bored up to the final scene with her presence.

“However, viewers might have found it difficult to relate with Orion and the Dark because it was weird and targeted at a particular group of people, maybe children or anything else. That is shown by the low viewing figures as compared to other animated films.”

In your opinion what are your thoughts about the movies discussed? Did any of them manage to grab your attention up to the last scene? Leave your comment with us below!
