Actress Natalia Tena will star in the second part of ‘The Platform’ set to be released on Netflix in October 2024.

The highly-anticipated Spanish thriller will be screened worldwide on Friday, October 4, 2024.

Introduction

Anchored in 2019, the initial movie, retains its standing as Netflix’s fifth most popular non-English language film having been viewed for 129.70 million hours for the first 91 days translating into 82.80 million views. Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia writes, directs and produces the follow-up to his 2019 hit which is likely to hit the airwaves sometime in 2023; in fact Netflix formally declared its intention on May 11th declaring that production had begun alongside some sneak peeks into what could be expected next with inclusion of Bilbao scenery in Spain. The shooting of scenes at Bilbao took place since then.

The first sequel of this successful movie is called El Hoyo. It demonstrates a unique vertical jail featuring a single cell and an inter-cell platform on each level. Thus, inmates are allowed two minutes each day for meals, moving from one level to another. There was huge approval at the box office, Thrillist even said that this was a mind boggler at the Twilight Zone level combined with some gloomy psychological horror movies that have social messages targeted at particular problems.

Jon Sangroniz works as the cinematographer while Aitor Etxebarria serves as the composer for the sequel; the sequel is being produced by Carlos Juárez, Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, and Raquel Perea from Basque Films.
