The highly anticipated summer blockbuster is set to release in mid-August 2024 ‘The Union’.
Preview of ‘The Union’ Introduction
Netflix acquired The Union (formerly known as Our Man From Jersey) in a significant eight-figure deal, touted as a ‘blue-collar James Bond.’ Here’s the latest on this Netflix Original film, complete with new images, ahead of its official release on August 16th, 2024.
Wahlberg and producer Stephen Levinson conceived the film during quarantine. They brought on writer David Guggenheim (known for Safe House and Designated Survivor) to craft the script, which impressed Netflix enough to secure a significant investment after reviewing a 36-page draft.
As first reported by Variety, Julian Farino has been confirmed as the director for the movie. Farino brings extensive experience from projects such as Netflix’s Giri/Haji and Florida Man series. Additionally, he has contributed to HBO’s Ballers and Entourage.

Mike is a down-to-earth construction worker from New Jersey. He gets himself involved in the world of spy business superfluously when his ex-girlfriend from high school called Roxanne involves him in a top secret US intelligence project.

‘The Union’ Production Details
In May 2020, Netflix acquired the pitch for “Our Man from Jersey,” with Mark Wahlberg set to star. Joe Barton and David Guggenheim are writing the screenplay based on a story by Stephen Levinson. Halle Berry joined the cast as Wahlberg’s co-star in March 2021. The ensemble grew with the addition of J.K. Simmons, Jackie Earle Haley, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jessica De Gouw, and Alice Lee in May 2022.

Filming began in March 2022 across London, New Jersey, and Piran. The production sparked minor controversy in May 2022 over air and noise pollution during filming in Fitzrovia. In September 2022, filming moved to Ponterosso in Trieste, Italy.

From a release date, initially scheduled on Netflix for the premiere in 2024 February, we’ve got our official confirmation that The Union will be a debut globally on Friday August 16th, 2024. There are no plans for a limited theatrical release.
